- State of the art polar molecule resolution
- Protein-protein, -nucleic acid, -drug interactions
- Required use by all biopharmaceutical companies in FDA certification
- Proficient students practically guaranteed jobs at major biotech companies
Capillary electrophoresis is more than this; its capabilities are amazing! What other instrument can separate individual molecules, shine the light spectrum from 200 to 900nm wavelength simultaneously using a diode array, record both absorption and fluorescence on the fly to create a topological map for absorption that can be turned upside down to view the underside for the topological fluorescence terrain, and deliver these in vivid colors! The PA800 is not just a box.
Upper-division Biology students plus those close to graduating will be given first preference to fill the 16 available seats, 8 for each session. Those successfully completing the workshop/training will be given a certificate from Beckman Coulter. Genentech has 40 PA800s per lab. They and other biotechnology companies like Amgen cannot find enough people who have capillary electrophoresis experience. This will be an opportunity for students to seek employment in these biotechnology companies.
