Construction Activity for the week of June 9, 2014

Here are the planned construction activities for the week of June 9, 2014.

We recently received approvals from the State Fire Marshall for the Nursing, Science and Education (NSE) building. As such, we are moving swiftly to catch up on our construction schedule. You will notice that the construction fence south of LAS has moved to the west. This will allow for the removal of existing water lines and the installation of new fire water lines for hydrants and building fire suppression systems. Also in this area, we will be trenching for conduits for parking lights and plaza light bollards. The fence will move back later in the week which will resume the circulation of the parking lot. We regret the inconvenience the temporary relocation of the fence will cause.

Other than work in the plaza area, you will start to see noticeable changes on the NSE building this week. We will be finishing up the underground utilities and backfilling the building pad. We will start to install the exterior block to the height of 2 feet above the building floor. This means that you will see about 10 feet of finished block along the exposed, recessed walls of the lecture hall. We will continue to work on forming the stairs between the ADA ramp and sidewalk northeast of the LAS building. This work is outside of the construction fence area. So, everyone continue to be careful in these areas and be sure to slow down while driving for the safety of our students, employees and our construction team.
