Construction Activity for the week of September 1, 2014

Here are the planned construction activities for the week of September 1, 2014.

The second floor deck to the Nursing Science and Education building was poured last week. After it cures, we will be starting the mechanical, electrical, water, sewer and fire sprinklers on the second floor. The first floor activity will continue with framing the classrooms and offices. The staircase for the rotunda should arrive this week and will be installed as soon as it arrives. The third floor deck is being prepared, including attaching the 3rd staircase to access the roof deck. Also, on the NSE, the exterior framing that holds the metal panels and glazing will continue installation. Work on the Student Center will continue with underslab utilities backfilling and preparing the pad for a mid-September pour. You will also see continued work on the planter boxes and on the steps and ramps in front of the Center. The railing for stairs northeast of the LAS are now complete and that area should be opened for use. We expect that bike racks, benches and trash enclosures will arrive this week and will be installed when they arrive. Some of these installations will be outside of the construction fences. Please continue to think safety first when approaching the construction area and keep an eye out for workers in the plaza area.
