First-Year Application Process

Admission to Nevada State College as a freshmen applicant will be based on the student's academic record. This will be calculated through one of the following sets of criteria:

  • Submit the Application: 
  • Submit official transcripts from your high school and any colleges you've attended.  If you are sending official transcripts electronically from an institution, please send them to: admissions@nsc.edu 
  • Explore financial aid. Concerned about the cost of an NSC education? Check our financial aid pages to see if you qualify for scholarships, grants, or loans.
  • You may also want to schedule a visit to campus. It's not required, but it's a great way to meet faculty and students and see how NSC can help you thrive.

High School Students/Graduates

Applicants who have earned a high school diploma or G.E.D. but have never attended a college or university since high school are considered first-time freshmen.

Students must complete a standard high school diploma, have an overall grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and complete the following coursework:

  • Four years of English
  • Three years of mathematics, with at least two being algebra I or higher two years of applied algebra count as one year towards the requirement
  • Two years of science, with at least one lab science
  • Three years of social studies

Students not meeting the minimum requirements

  • A student who does not meet the admission requirements may be admitted through other criteria upon the approval of the Admissions Review Committee. Please contact the Office of Admissions and Records for additional information.

GED Students

Students who have earned a GED credential will automatically be evaluated by the Admissions Review Committee for an admissions decision. The admission decision will be based evaluation of college preparation and readiness as a student.
