ACT / SAT

Placement Testing

Placement Testing is used for placing students into English and Mathematics classes. It is not required if the student already has SAT or ACT scores, or other English and/or Mathematics courses from another NSHE institution. Currently, NSC does not charge for placement testing, but we do ask that students schedule an appointment.

Placement Tests to be Held:

Mondays at 2PM 
Wednesdays at 2PM
Fridays at 9AM 
(Except for holidays)

An appointment is required to secure a testing station on a testing date.  Please plan to arrive 5 minutes prior to the appointment time.  Late arrivals will need to reschedule for the next testing date. Students are required to bring a Photo ID. Calculators are not allowed. NSC will provide scratch paper and pencils. Testing will take approximately 3 hours.

TEAS Testing

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAStm) is required for all students applying to the regular or part-time nursing programs.

Testing Dates:


Friday, December 8th @ 9:00 AM
Tuesday, December 12th @ 9:00 AM
Monday, December 18th @ 9:00 AM
Thursday, January 4th @ 9:00 AM

Students interested in taking the TEAS Test must make an appointment by submitting the TEAS Registration Form and paying the registration fee of $75.oo. If paying in cash, please bring exact change. Reservations are not accepted without payment. When filling out the registration form, students will select their first and second choice. NSC will do its best to honor a student's first choice, however spots are limited and reserved on a first come, first served basis.

The $75 TEAS registration fee is non-refundable.

Forms are also accepted via mail, however, spaces are reserved on a first come/first served basis. 

Please arrive at the test center by 8:30 am. Doors lock at 9:00 am promptly. Testers arriving after 9:00 am must reschedule for a future testing date.

Testers are required to bring a Photo ID. Calculators are not allowed. The test will last approximately 4 hours. Scores are available immediately following testing. We will not accept requests to print test scores.

ACT / SAT

Students who have already completed the ACT or SAT exams should have their scores sent directly to Nevada State College.

English

Students who placed below Eng 100 on the placement exam are referred to developmental English courses at the community college.

Students who complete Eng 102 will satisfy the Core Curriculum Requirement. Typically, students take Eng 101 during their first semester at the college and Eng 102 during the second semester. Students needing extra assistance in English writing skills will take Eng 100, a 5-credit course offering more instruction and practice than Eng 101. A student who successfully completes (with a C or higher grade) Eng 100 can move on to Eng 102.
