Originally from Idaho, Dr. Gleason gained an early interest in mathematics education by observing his mother, a middle-school mathematics teacher. He taught high school mathematics in Heber City, Utah before attending graduate school. His own experience as a prospective and practicing teacher, along with his professional teaching and research activities involving prospective and practicing teachers has deeply influenced his beliefs about teacher education. He hopes to help current prospective teachers avoid some of the pitfalls endemic to the existing structure of teacher preparation. Before coming to Nevada State College, Dr. Gleason worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New Hampshire.
