Kevin Butler is the current Vice President for Finance & Business Operations at Nevada State College. A self-professed generalist, Kevin held a variety positions in higher education over the past 31 years. He began his career in the University of Arizona motorpool, progressing through various accounting and management positions in facilities management, academic units and administration. Kevin also worked abroad for the U of A, successfully managing complex international development projects. Kevin left the University of Arizona after 20 years to become the first assistant dean for business and finance in the College of Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he built an effective business and grant support structure and helped to financially turn around the college, doubling research spending and increasing enrollment during his four years there.
Kevin returned to his hometown and Cochise College where, as Vice President for administration, he helped to transform the college by developing new business strategies and overseeing $53M in new construction during the first four years at Cochise. Kevin was also active in the surrounding communities serving as treasurer for the Bisbee Council on Arts and Humanities, treasurer for the Sierra Vista Sunrise Rotary club and a member of the Greater Sierra Vista United Way. Although he is now located in Henderson, NV, Kevin is still deeply involved in efforts to help restore the 103 year-old Warren Ballpark, serving as treasurer for the Friend of the Warren Ballpark.
In addition to his Associates of Arts degree from Cochise, Kevin earned a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration as well as a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Arizona. Kevin holds a certificate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education Institute for Education Management and is a licensed CPA in the state of Arizona. Kevin is married to his wife of 27 years, Sedra, and has two grown daughters, Seanza and Serena. In his spare time, he enjoys running and playing volleyball.
