Dr. Katie Durante is new to the NSC faculty, having joined in Fall 2017. She was educated in the liberal arts tradition and knew she wanted to work at a college that emphasized teaching and mentoring students. Dr. Durante’s teaching and research interests focus on inequality in the criminal justice system, which attracted her to the mission of the program at NSC.

Before joining NSC, Dr. Durante taught several courses including Drugs and Society, Criminology, and Sociological Theory at the University of Cincinnati. She also mentored undergraduate research assistants who helped collect data for her dissertation, and is excited about the opportunity to engage interested students in research again. She spent the last few years conducting program evaluations for the Hamilton County, Ohio, drug court, on a grant sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA).
