Student Speaker

The commencement student speaker is selected annually from a group of candidates who hold a minimum 3.0 GPA and have completed their degree requirements in the previous summer or fall semester, or in the current spring semester.

Congratulations to Ana Madrid, who has been selected as the student speaker for the 2020 Commencement Ceremony.

Ana Madrid, formerly known as Ana Aviles-Cardenas, is graduating with her Elementary Education degree. She is a mother of two, ages 1 and 2, and sister to four wonderful siblings. Being a former foster care youth after losing her mother to leukemia, and first-generation college student, Ana strives to use her degree to positively impact as many students as she can; demonstrating what it means to truly rise from the ashes.

National Anthem Singer

Congratulations to Jeannette Moreno, who has been selected as the National Anthem singer for the 2020 Commencement Ceremony.

Jeannette Moreno is incredibly honored to be celebrating two of her greatest passions, nursing and music. As a performer she been blessed to travel the world doing musicals, live shows, and television, and is thrilled to be graduating with her bachelor’s in nursing. Patch Adams once said, “You treat a disease, you win, you lose. You treat a person, you’ll win, no matter what the outcome”. Jeannette wishes to thank her professors for molding her, her fellow graduates who have inspired her, her fiancé Carl for his love, and her parents, who have supported every crazy venture. This one is for Jeannette’s mom Linda, her hero in scrubs.
