School of Education Program Admission

Applications for admission to the Teacher Preparation and Speech Pathology programs are accepted twice each year. All application materials must be received no later than the application deadlines below. The application process is completed online. Please read the information below and click on the link provided at the end to access the online application.

Fall semester admission:

March 1 (March 1-October 15)

Spring semester admission:

October 15 (October 15-March 1)

Teacher Preparation Program

Criteria for Admission

1.  General admission into Nevada State College. Students who have never attended Nevada State College will need to apply for college admission through the Office of Admissions. Students may apply online at https://nsc.edu/admissions/applying-to-nsc/index.aspx.

2. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better

3. Applicants will be required to obtain a valid substitute-teaching license. A copy of the license should be included with the application. Or, verification of a pending application through the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) can be used for processing the application. A copy of the official substitute-teaching license must be submitted to the School of Education upon receipt. The following items must be submitted with the Teacher Preparation Program Application

1. Signed Disposition form

2. Official copy of passing scores on the reading, writing and mathematics portions of the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators (CORE) exam or California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).

3. A valid Substitute Teaching License is a requirement for program admission. A copy of your valid substitute-teaching license is required with this application. OR, verification of a pending application for a license with the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) is required. In addition, the student is responsible to email a copy of the substitute license to the School of Education once received. All items must be included at the time of submission.  Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Speech Pathology Program

Criteria for Admission

1. Signed Disposition form

2. Signed NSC Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Program Guide form
