Instructors

National Association of Concurrent Enrollment Programs (NACEP) Standards

Nevada State College is not yet seeking NACEP accreditation. However, the NACEP provides a strong list of best practices that we aspire to, including:

Dual Credit instructors are expert teachers who offer NSC classes at our partnering high schools. To become an NSC Dual Credit instructor, a teacher must:

  • Hold a Master’s degree;
  • Have a recommendation by the partnering school’s Principal;
  • Provide evidence of  excellence in teaching;
  • Provide evidence of content expertise in the discipline they are teaching as a dual credit course;
  • Be approved by a review committee at NSC.

1. All concurrent enrollment instructors are approved by the appropriate college/university academic leadership and must meet the minimum qualifications for instructors teaching the course on campus.

2. Faculty liaisons at the college/university provide all new concurrent enrollment instructors with course-specific training in course philosophy, curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment prior to the instructor teaching the course.

3. Concurrent enrollment instructors participate in college/university provided annual discipline-specific professional development and ongoing collegial interaction to further enhance instructors’ pedagogy and breadth of knowledge in the discipline.

4. The concurrent enrollment program ensures instructors are informed of and adhere to program policies and procedures.
