Coordinated Community Learning

In collaboration with various academic departments, the Office of Community Engagement and Diversity Initiatives (CEDI) is working to provide students opportunities to engage in service-learning courses. These rigorous academic courses promote citizenship, leadership, and offer community-based learning experiences. Courses encompassing community learning will meet the research interests of faculty members and students; moreover, the needs and priorities of our community partners.

The Director of the Center for Teaching & Learning Excellence, Dr. Chris Garrett, is working with CEDI to educate and train NSC faculty on how to properly prepare, instruct, and assess a service learning curriculum. This relationship ensures our campus has the supports needed to access and implement service learning in both the curricular and co-curricular settings.

Please refer back to this page for updates on future virtual workshops that will train our campus on how to administer a service learning course as well as the documents required to engage in field-based experiential learning.
