As a graduating student, you may have a lot of questions about preparing for and attending Commencement. You can find everything you need to know here! Download the 2019 Commencement informational handout.
Grad Days will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 27 and 28 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 29 in the Rogers Student Center Ballroom. Stop by during a time that works for you! Kids play space and light refreshments provided.
If you aren’t able to make it to Grad Days, please feel free to stop by the Nevada State College bookstore during their normal business hours to purchase your cap and gown, shop for your graduation announcements, class ring, diploma frame, and much more!
The deadline to make updates to your graduation application is April 5. Failure to adhere to this deadline will result in the student’s name not appearing in the program.

Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 Nevada State College GPA and be completing all requirements in spring 2019 (OR) have completed their studies in summer or fall 2018. Caps and gowns will be available for purchase at the Nevada State Bookstore beginning on the first day of Grad Days. A package for students (cap, gown, and degree tassel) costs $39.98 plus tax. Souvenir tassels will be available in several styles for varying prices. Contact the bookstore at (702) 992-2340 for more information.
Students who are graduating with honors will be able to pick up their appropriate cords at the Nevada State Bookstore.

You will be issued a name card when you purchase your cap and gown. All students participating in Commencement must have a name card. This name card is what the dean of your school reads when you cross the stage. Any student graduating with honors will have the honors listed on his or her name card. You must bring this card with you to Commencement.
You can order personalized announcements through the Jostens website, or purchase general announcements at the Nevada State College bookstore. For more information, contact the bookstore at (702) 992-2340.
All graduates need to arrive by 5 p.m. and and proceed to the Graduate robing area (Gold Rooms). Ushers and volunteers on site will assist you with finding the location. Only graduates are allowed in the robing area. Once there, please line up at the appropriate school flag (School of Education, School of Liberal Arts & Sciences, School of Nursing). The doors at the Orleans Arena will open for family and friends to begin seating at 5 p.m. Tickets are not required; however, seating is limited. Ushers will assist with seating.
Parking is available in the Orleans Arena lot and is free of charge. Parking Map.
Dress and behavior should reflect the honor of the occasion. Remember that graduates will have to walk up and down the stage steps so please wear appropriate shoes.
Photography and videotaping will be allowed during the ceremony. All photographers are reminded to not obstruct the view of the audience. Each graduate will have sufficient time to pause on the stand for photographs.
There will be an official photographer taking pictures as graduates cross the stage.
At the beginning of commencement, tassels are worn on the right. Graduates will receive direction from the podium when it is time to move the tassel to the left.
Contact the Disability Resource Center (DRC) at (702) 992- 2180 or DRC@nsc.edu to arrange accommodations for any attendees requiring an accommodation, and for special seating for those who may need sign language interpreters. The deadline to contact the DRC is noon on Tuesday, April 30. Failure to make arrangements with DRC may result in inadequate time to get the necessary accommodations in place.
Faculty and staff who have their own regalia are invited to dress and process in the ceremony. If you need to rent regalia, please contact the bookstore by March 31 at (702) 992-2340.
Shipping is free of charge for orders placed on or before March 31. Orders placed after this date will pay express shipping and handling. Orders can be sent directly to email@example.com.
Faculty and staff must arrive by 5 p.m. to the designated faculty and staff area. There will be volunteers available to assist in finding the correct location. At 5:30 p.m., all faculty and graduates will begin to line up for the procession, which will begin promptly at 6 p.m.

A short social gathering will immediately follow the ceremony just outside the Orleans Arena. This will give faculty an opportunity to congratulate students and their families.
