All students, faculty, staff, and community members who RSVP and check-in to events will receive a complimentary t-shirt on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 | Wellness & Inclusion Day

Caricature Artist
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Capture your #ScorpionPride in a caricature drawn by local artist and founder of MatriARTchy, Sam Gorrie.

 

Tunnel of Awareness
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Ballroom | Rogers Student Center

The third annual Tunnel of Awareness is a museum-style program recognizing a variety of human experiences. In the tunnel, rooms will encourage awareness of social justice, equality and identity matters.

 

Bowling with Bart
6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Strike Zone at Sunset Station | 1301 West Sunset Road, Henderson, NV 89014

Mix and mingle with President Bart Patterson at this fun, family-friendly event. Unlimited bowling (including shoe rentals), pizza, and soda are provided at no charge. Please limit guests to one per Nevada State community member.

President Bart Patterson will address campus constituents and the greater Henderson community to highlight recent Nevada State College accomplishments and detail upcoming plans and goals for the college.

Nevada State College Foundation Scholarship Brunch (invitation required)

This invitation-only event celebrates the academic achievement of our student scholars and honors those who make the Nevada State College Foundation scholarship programs possible. Donors and friends of the college have the opportunity to meet and interact with their current scholarship recipients.

 

 

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 | COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS DAY

American Red Cross Blood Drive

Join the Nevada State College Student Nurses Association and the American Red Cross at our blood donation drive. Schedule an appointment online at www.redcrossblood.org/RapidPass.

 

The Artist at Work Series | Opening Panel Discussion
12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Auditorium | Nursing, Science & Education Building

Learn from local artists as they discuss the nature of work for artists, the role and responsibility of public art, and the preparation required to be successful in the arts industry in which they work. The Office of Arts & Culture will also announce the opportunity for students to explore themselves as “the artist at work” as they create works of art or performances in response to this year’s common read, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. A reception will follow in the Glenn and Ande Christenson Rotunda. This program is made possible by a grant from Nevada Humanities, an independent affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. The event is free and open to the public.

Add some color to your Nevada State spirit bandana! We will provide the bandana, dye and other supplies needed.

 

Scorpion’s Calling

Scorpion’s Calling is Spirit Week’s premier social event at Nevada State College. Come have fun in a family-friendly atmosphere. Enjoy life-size and interactive carnival games and DJ entertainment. Be sure to check in early to get your free t-shirt and meal voucher (available while supplies last). Come kick off the fall 2018 semester in style!
