Learn from local artists as they discuss the nature of work for artists, the role and responsibility of public art, and the preparation required to be successful in the arts industry in which they work. The Office of Arts & Culture will also announce the opportunity for students to explore themselves as “the artist at work” as they create works of art or performances in response to this year’s common read, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. A reception will follow in the Glenn and Ande Christenson Rotunda. This program is made possible by a grant from Nevada Humanities, an independent affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. The event is free and open to the public.
