Mi Bui

Hello! My name is Mi Bui, and I am the new Embedded Support Program Coordinator. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, which led to my academic career at UNLV. I majored in Biological Sciences with minors in neuroscience and psychology. Originally, I planned to pursue medicine, but my love for student support and advising swayed me. I was an SI leader at UNLV, working with introductory biology classes, and then I became a graduate assistant for the program after starting my Master’s program. I am now in the middle of pursuing my Master’s in Higher Education, and I hope to graduate in Spring of 2022.

My undergraduate degree was full of twists and turns, but it has led me to where I am today! I still love biology and chemistry, but I know the skills I learned in those courses will help me in my role working with the course assistants and supplemental instruction leaders. I hope to guide students to grow professionally and personally and to encourage persistence to their graduation and establish a strong self-concept. Outside of the academic world, I enjoy hiking, camping, crafting, and spending time with my family.”

¡Hola! I was born in San Salvador, El Salvador and raised in Los Angeles, CA.  I am the first person in my family to graduate from high school, the first to attend and graduate from college, and the first to graduate with a Master’s degree.  Due to finances, my immigration status, and life circumstances, I started off my college journey in community college and then transferred to U.C.L.A. where I graduated with a degree in American Literature and Culture, and a minor in African-American Studies.  I am honored to work with the future leaders of Nevada and society as part of #TeamNepantla.
