Like many others here in Vegas I am from California. I moved to Las Vegas 2004 with my husband and then 4 year old daughter and in 2007 welcomed my son. Before moving here I completed my Undergraduate degree at California State University Northridge in Communications. At the time my focus was Public Relations, but after a few events I realized it might not be for me. My first job after moving to Las Vegas was at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, where I had the pleasure of working in Admissions. This experience was great and made me enjoy the college environment to the point of pursing my Master’s in Higher Education (specialization in Online Teaching and Learning) with Kaplan University. I have taught and worked in colleges like Art Institute of Las Vegas, Nevada Career Institute and Anthem Career College in every department except for Financial Aid. In 2015 I completed my Master’s in Communications, (specialization in Organizational Leadership).
It has been an honor and pleasure to be teaching at Nevada State College since 2016 helping to grow and expand the Communications department. While I am the generalist in the department, my focus is helping to develop new courses for the program.
When I am not teaching at Nevada State College, I am substitute for CCSD. I enjoy spending time with my family, making beef jerky and random dance parties. I enjoy reading resources about African American: culture, history and pop culture. In 2020 I received the Part Time Instructor Excellence Award for my dedication to the campus and students. I am eager to earn many more and continue my career here at NSC for years to come.
