I am a First Year Experience Lecturer at Nevada State where I teach College Success, Composition, Creative Writing, and Literature. I am passionate about engaging learner’s prior knowledge and offering meaningful choices that celebrate diversity, autonomy, and life-long learning. My work with Nevada State also includes serving as a founding member of the Nevada State Arts & Culture Council, cultivating the Creative Writing minor, and serving as a Faculty Advisor for both the Blue Sage Writer’s Guild and 300 Days of Sun.
My Master of Fine Arts is in Creative Writing with an emphasis on Poetry, and I hold a Graduate Certificate in Literary Translation. I serve as World Literature Editor and a literary critic for The Literary Review and am a founder of and the Senior Editor for Tolsun Books. Additionally, it was an incredible honor to serve Clark County as the 2019-2021 Poet Laureate and to be named Las Vegas’ Best Local Writer or Poet in 2017 by the readers of Nevada Public Radio’s Desert Companion. My collection of poems, Gathering Broken Light (Unsolicited Press, 2021), was written with the support of a Nevada Arts Council grant. I am thrilled to be sharing my passion for learning and for writing with our Nevada State community.
