My name is Maira and I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am a first-generation Latina college student and I graduated in Spring 2022 with my degree in Biology with a minor in Applied Mathematics from Nevada State! I was first introduced to college when I took part in the Nepantla Summer Bridge program in Summer 2017 which introduced me to academic support services on campus and study strategies that helped me succeed throughout my college experience and provided tailored support to navigate college as a first gen student. In my undergrad, I worked as a Math and Science tutor at the Academic Success Center for over three years and I was the Course Assistant for the Nepantla Summer Bridge Program in Summer 2019. I am very excited to continue to support students in my role as the Tutoring Services Program Coordinator and to work closely with student workers to meet the needs of our beautiful, diverse student population!
