I am a full-time lecturer for our counseling minor in our psychology program, with an emphasis on addiction. In addition to teaching our counseling courses, I am also a practicing licensed clinician, specializing in mental health and addiction counseling. I am state-approved and nationally accredited in clinical supervision, and strive to stay connected to the community by offering trainings and consultation to established providers in the helping field. Because of my active involvement in the community, I bring in current, relevant information to help prepare our students to be marketable professionals and to also help create a bridge for our students to engage in real-world experiences. To further introduce students to the many facets of the counseling field, I coordinate extra-curricular activities, field placement internships, and invite remarkable guest lecturers from an array of professional backgrounds. I am excited about being part of Nevada State College, as I have a passion for teaching, inspiring, and mentoring our diverse student population to help guide them for successful outcomes. I received a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2005 and am currently pursuing my doctoral degree in counseling, with an emphasis on counselor education, at Oregon State University.
