College can BE AFFORDABLE! More than 68 percent of our students receive financial aid, including scholarships, grants, work-study, and loans.

HOW TO APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

The NSC Foundation Scholarship Application is open each year between December 15 and April 15.  To learn about other scholarships, visit this page.

HOW TO APPLY FOR GRANTS AND STUDENT LOANS

The most important step in receiving financial aid is to complete either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) or NSC's Non-Federal Aid Application for students who are not eligible to apply for Federal Student Aid.

Students and parents can complete the FAFSA® through the StudentAid.gov website.

  • The results of the FAFSA® will be used to determine the types and amounts of federal, state and institutional aid you are eligible to receive.
  • The FAFSA® must be completed every year and it becomes available every October 1.
  • Certain types of aid are awarded based on a priority deadline of January 15.
  • Students who have not completed the FAFSA® and turned in all requested documentation 6 weeks prior to the tuition due date should be prepared to make a payment to protect their registration from cancellation.

 SUMMER FINANCIAL AID

There is no application other than the FAFSA® or the Non-Federal Aid Application to apply for summer financial aid.  Summer is the last semester of the financial aid year at NSC, so the FAFSA® or Non-Federal Aid Application used is the one used for the past fall and spring semesters.

Students who register in financial aid-eligible classes in the summer semester who have a complete financial aid application for the prior fall/spring semesters will be considered for financial aid and notified of eligibility by campus e-mail and in MyNSC Student Center.

  • Many aid programs have annual limits, which, if used for enrollment in the fall and spring, may not be available for summer.
  • Students beginning at Nevada State in the summer semester will have a review of any prior aid received at other institutions in order to determine remaining eligibility for the summer.
