HENDERSON, Nev. The Board of Governors for the Colorado State University System has selected NSC President Lesley Di Mare as the new president of Colorado State University-Pueblo. Di Mare will begin at CSU-Pueblo in the coming months.
I’m honored to have been selected as the new president of CSU-Pueblo, said Di Mare. CSU-Pueblo, and the larger CSU System, has an impressive record of academic excellence, student success, and community engagement. I look forward to working with members of the CSU-Pueblo campus community in the coming months to better understand their vision for CSU-Pueblo.
It has been a true honor to serve at Nevada State College since 2007. Nevada State College is a remarkable institution that is making a real difference in our community. I feel fortunate to have worked with such extraordinary students, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders while at NSC.
Di Mare was appointed interim president of Nevada State College in August 2010. She previously served as provost and vice president of academic affairs of Nevada State College since July 2007. Prior to her tenure at NSC, Di Mare served Arizona State University as associate vice provost for undergraduate initiatives and academic programs. She received her doctorate from Indiana University, her master’s degree from California State University-Hayward, and her bachelor’s degree from California State University-Chico.
The search for a new, permanent president of CSU-Pueblo started in November 2010 following the resignation of Joe Garcia, who was elected Colorado lieutenant governor. Retired Missouri Southern State University President Julio Leon has been serving as interim president of CSU-Pueblo. A 10-member search advisory committee had been engaged in the process of identifying candidates for the position and was charged with recommending up to three candidates to the CSU System Board of Governors.
