Clery Notice for Fall 2021 COVID-19 Case

Aug 25, 2021 | Coronavirus

A message from President DeRionne Pollard

Dear Nevada State College Community,

Within the past 24 hours, NS has been informed that a member of the campus community has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

The individual was last on the NS campus on August 23, 2021 and was confirmed as positive for COVID-19 on August 24, 2021. The individual is recovering and is following protocols set by state health officials and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. When an individual is confirmed to have COVID-19, the Southern Nevada Health District determines who they may have had close contact with and guidance is provided directly to those individuals.

The Southern Nevada Health District emphasizes that those most at risk from COVID-19 include people who have had daily repeated and prolonged exposure. The college is sending this notification out of an abundance of caution because the individual visited a public space on campus on August 23, 2021.

We ask the NS community to continue following protocols for prevention, maintain social distancing, be aware of symptoms of COVID-19, and seek medical care when it is needed. All individuals confirmed positive for coronavirus should self-report at https://nsc.edu/coronavirus/self-report/. If you need to schedule a free COVID-19 test, visit https://covid.southernnevadahealthdistrict.org/testing/.

Vaccination clinics are located throughout Clark County. You may find the most convenient vaccination clinic for you by visiting https://covid.southernnevadahealthdistrict.org/vaccine/distribution/.

We are also working with local partners and the Southern Nevada Health District to offer free COVID-19 vaccination clinics on campus on August 31st and September 9th. Details will be forthcoming.

Please remember face coverings are required for all students, employees, and members of the public when indoors at a Nevada State College building. We also want to remind you of the mental health and wellness resources available to you during this challenging time. Here is the link to those resources for Nevada State students: https://nsc.edu/studentwellness/ and employees: https://nsc.edu/human-resources/eap/. These resources can also be accessed in the State Safe app.

We will continue to share information specific to NS through official channels, including https://nsc.edu/coronavirus/. The site includes links to health resources, college operations, current announcements, and other important information.

As you may be aware, the Southern Nevada NSHE institutions are partnering to vaccinate ALL individuals over the age of 12. To schedule your vaccine, visit  https://covid.southernnevadahealthdistrict.org/vaccine/distribution/. We are also working with local partners and the Southern Nevada Health District to offer free COVID-19 vaccination clinics on campus on August 31st and September 9th. Details will be forthcoming.

Unless there are unusual circumstances, future information regarding positive cases of COVID-19 within the NS community will be posted solely at https://nsc.edu/coronavirus/confirmedcases/. This information complies with Clery Act requirements.

Sincerely,

Dr. DeRionne P. Pollard
