Nevada State College President Bart Patterson has announced that the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) reaffirmed Nevada State’s institutional accreditation.

NWCCU, a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that accredits institutions of higher education by applying evidence-informed standards and processes to support continuous improvements and student achievement, commended Nevada State for remaining true to its mission during a time of unprecedented growth while ensuring a climate that prioritizes and promotes the success of its diverse student body. Other commendations included the college’s intentional development and implementation of key student success initiatives and services, particularly for first year students, its Marydean Martin Library for fulfilling its mission by providing a responsive network of services and for its use of evidence-based measurements to create a student centric learning environment, and its excellent and well-maintained physical and technological infrastructure.

“The reaccreditation confirms the hard work and dedication our team devotes to the success of students at Nevada State College,” said Patterson. “Our institution and dynamic students will continue to flourish as we develop programs that help solve critical needs in our community.”

The NWCCU Board of Commissioners reaffirmed Nevada State College’s accreditation in February 2020 following a meeting with college leadership in January 2020 and is effective for a seven-year time-period. The NWCCU awarded the accreditation based off evidence including the institution’s self-evaluation report, peer-evaluation report, the institutional response to the peer-evaluation report, and information received as part of the January 2020 meeting with commissioners. Recommendations included focusing efforts on assessment, objectives and indicators.
