Campus Update Sept. 3, 2020

Greetings,

As we approach Labor Day, I am reaching out to affirm the college’s commitment to staying One of the Safest College’s in America. This weekend, do your part by continuing to physically social distance, wear a face covering, and avoid large gatherings. Additionally, I encourage you to participate in Nevada’s COVID-19 testing blitz.

Clark County, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the state of Nevada have partnered to make 60,000 tests available in our community to anyone who wants to be tested whether people have symptoms of the virus or not. Appointments are not required at any ‘Stop, Swab & Go’ sites but are strongly encouraged. The tests are free and no proof of health insurance is required.

The ‘Stop, Swab & Go’ COVID-19 testing blitz is officially under way at three drive-thru sites in the Las Vegas Valley through Friday, Sept. 18. Registration is now open for a special 14-day event at www.DoINeedaCOVID19Test.com.

For more information, visit https://www.clarkcountynv.gov/news_detail_T28_R51.php

Individuals who test positive should complete the Self-Report Form at www.nsc.edu/coronavirus. The Self-Report Form, Daily Self-Assessment and many more tools are also available on the new State Safe app. To download the app and access features including campus, community and crisis resources, simply search State Safe in the Apple iTunes or Google Play store or visit nsc.edu/statesafe.

It has been great to welcome our Scorpion community to the Fall semester. Individuals from every part of our campus have worked together to plan an adjusted approach to delivering courses and programs in innovative ways which make our community safer.

Thank you for continuing to Be Great. Our state needs us more than ever!

Sincerely,

Bart Patterson
President
