MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2019

Caricature Artists

Capture your #ScorpionPride in a caricature drawn by the local artists Celestia Ward and Robert Sundin of Two Heads Studios!

 

Shred the Stress Away
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Lobby | Rogers Student Center

Join the NSSA Capital Improvement Board for a de-stressing event. Participants will have the option to write down their stressors and shred them away or write an inspiring note and post it on a board to uplift others.

 

Tunnel of Awareness
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Ballroom | Rogers Student Center

The fourth annual Tunnel of Awareness is a museum-style program recognizing a variety of human experiences. In the tunnel, rooms will encourage awareness of social justice, equity and identity matters. The Tunnel experience includes a guided tour and debrief. It lasts 1 hour. Created by students; supported by the Office of Community Engagement and Diversity Initiatives and the Office of Student Life.

President Bart Patterson will address campus constituents and the greater Henderson community to highlight recent Nevada State College accomplishments and detail upcoming plans and goals for the college.

This invitation-only event celebrates the academic achievement of our student scholars and honors those who make the Nevada State College Foundation scholarship programs possible. Donors and friends of the college have the opportunity to meet and interact with their current scholarship recipients.

 

An Evening of Poetry with Helen: a literary magazine

The Office of Arts & Culture invites you to join us for a poetry reading featuring poets previously published in Helen: a literary magazine. Elizabeth Quiñones-Zaldaña, Charlene Moskal, Heather Lang-Cassera, Bruce Isaacson, Jennifer Battisti, Autumn Widdoes, and Rodney Lee are scheduled to read.

Exploring Art… with Poetry! with Clark County Poet Laureate Heather Lang-Cassera

Meet Clark County Poet Laureate Heather Lang-Cassera as she leads a brief exercise on writing about art. While you’re there, pick up the calendar of events for the Office of Arts & Culture, and learn more about art and poetry events in the community.

 

Community Engagement Fair

Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to connect with over a dozen community and civic engagement organizations seeking to raise awareness. Also, free candy!

 

M3 Suit Up
10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Ballroom | Rogers Student Center

All students seeking professional masculine dress clothing are invited to participate in this Suit Up event featuring new and lightly used dress clothes. Students can expect to leave with 2-3 full outfits as well as professional extras. RSVP is required for reserved time slots but walk-ins are welcomed.

Donuts and coffee will be served, courtesy of the M3 Motivated Male Movement!

Scorpion’s Calling is our Annual “Welcome Back” event. This year’s theme is throwing it back to the ’80s! Bust a move on the retro LED dance floor and moonwalk your way into the free food line for a total tubular night to remember with a gnarly roller skating rink and some classic arcade game systems!

Mix and mingle with President Bart Patterson at this fun, family-friendly event. Unlimited bowling (including shoe rentals), pizza, and soda are provided at no charge. Please limit guests to one per Nevada State community member. Space is limited and registration is required.
