    Aspiration

Students from all backgrounds remain enrolled at NSC, in good academic standing, and with satisfactory progress toward their degrees. They continue to be excited about their learning experience and have a clear sense of the path they need to follow to graduate on time. They have a deeper understanding of NSC’s mission and what makes us unique. They are recognized for their accomplishments after completing their second year and passing the half-way point, and begin to experience the transformation that anchors our definition of student success.

    Audience

  • Full-time students willing to consider completing a BA/BS at NSC (as opposed to students who are taking a class but plan on transferring).
  • Students at risk of being overlooked because of our focus on incoming students.

    Aspiration

Students become involved at NSC and feel engaged with our community. They begin to see their experience as a transformational one. They have a plan to progress through the rest of their degree at NSC, the ability and the support needed to progress to the 2nd year, and they know how to access all of the major services (financial aid, advising, tutoring, etc.). They have the opportunity to engage in a cross-cutting academic experience that gives them practice using critical inquiry to engage with real-world issues.

    Audience

  • Full-time students willing to consider completing a BA/BS at NSC (as opposed to students who are taking a class but plan on transferring).
  • Part-time students who could consider shifting to fulltime and pursuing a degree.
  • Students living in our Residence Halls

Maximize enrollment of applicants in target populations and enhance their preparation and enthusiasm for the college experience.

Increase Opportunity for Success

  • Enhance the likelihood of success for incoming students, particularly students who will benefit from extra assistance.

Engender Community & Belonging

  • Foster a welcoming environment that builds a sense of community among the incoming class and connects them to faculty, staff, and other students.

Increase College Literacy & Self-efficacy

  • Increase college literacy and engender a spirit of independence and self-direction through knowledge, self-reflection, and advocacy.

Strengthen Financial Wellness

  • Help students understand financial support options, including scholarships, grants, and student loans, while mitigating stigmas regarding the latter.
