CTLE Faculty Fellow

The CTLE Faculty Fellow Award is an annual fellowship award to recognize one (1) faculty member for her/his commitment to excellence in teaching. The CTLE Faculty Fellow will be a full-time faculty member at Nevada State College (lecturer, tenure-track, or tenured) and will be selected via an application process. The award will include one course release/buyout (up to three credits) and a $2,000 conference travel grant to present at a national or international conference on teaching and learning. Applications are encouraged from all interested full-time faculty; preference will be given to applicants who have completed the CTLE Teaching Academy: Foundations of Teaching Certificate.

The CTLE Faculty Fellow will engage in the following services and activities during the academic year:

 

    • Pursue a teaching-related project as proposed in his/her application that will benefit the campus community (e.g., a scholarship of teaching and learning project; enhance faculty development at Nevada State);
    • Facilitate one, semester-long Faculty Learning Community on a topic proposed in his/her application;
    • Design and facilitate one workshop for Nevada State College faculty on teaching and learning;
    • Promote involvement of faculty in professional development on campus;
    • Participate in monthly CTLE planning meetings;
    • Present his/her teaching-related project at a national or international conference on teaching and learning.

Emily Hoover’s fellowship project: research on relational teaching and self-disclosure.

Hon-Vu Duong, MD

Dr. Duong’s fellowship projects: research on interdisciplinary collaboration and instructional technology.


2020 – 2021

Nathan Silva, PhD

Dr. Silva’s fellowship projects: provided professional development support to faculty in converting their courses from face-to-face to online and also implementing gamification.


2019 – 2020

Kayla Bieser, PhD

Dr. Bieser’s fellowship projects: analyzed data related to her work on Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) in her genetics course, expanded CURE to more institutions, and wrote a manuscript on her bioinformatics curriculum.
