New Faculty: Shirli Brautbar, Ph.D

Dr. Shirli Brautbar, currently a Lecturer in History at Nevada State College, will soon be the newest Assistant Professor in that department. She has taught a variety of courses in areas including ethnic and immigration history, United States early American history and modern history, women’s and gender history, women’s studies, general humanities, American studies, religion and ancient civilization as well as the Middle East. Prior to coming to work for Nevada State College, she taught at University of Southern California, Wilson College and Dickinson College.
Brautbar holds a master’s degree in Middle Eastern studies and a Ph.D. in history. She has received many fellowships, including the Casden Center for the Study of the Role of Jewish Life in America Pre-Doctoral Fellowship, a nationally competitive fellowship, and the University of Southern California Pre-Doctoral Merit Fellowship.
