Mar 4, 2021 | Campus News

A message from President Bart Patterson

Dear Scorpion Family,

I am pleased to announce Nevada State College will celebrate the class of 2021 with a virtual commencement ceremony on May 7 at 6 p.m. The event allows us to mark the academic accomplishments of our fall 2020, spring 2021, and summer 2021 graduates while protecting the health and safety of you, your family, and our community.

Additionally, we are excited to announce that plans are underway for a class of 2021 Grad Walk to occur within the two weeks following the virtual commencement ceremony. During Grad Walk you and your loved ones will be given the option to capture this historic moment in your life by hearing your name announced as you cross the stage on campus in your cap and gown.  2020 graduates will also be able participate in Grad Walk and will receive notification by email.  Details are forthcoming along with updated information being posted on our comprehensive commencement website: nsc.edu/commencement.

An essential element in this planning has been input from student government leaders, our seniors, and recent graduates.  I extend my thanks to them as well as our entire Scorpion community for their input and ideas on how best to mark this significant academic achievement given the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.  We remain committed to ensuring that you experience a celebration worthy of your remarkable accomplishments during this unprecedented time and of course, you will always be welcome to come back and walk the stage again when we are able to return to in person graduation ceremonies hopefully in 2022.

Our enthusiasm for celebrating you and your classmates is as strong as ever.  We look forward to honoring the Class of 2021 in just two months!

Be bold. Be great. Be State.

Bart Patterson

President
